Ute Mountain Indian Pottery Hand-Painted Bowl, Signed by Inez Wing
A charming piece of Southwestern art pottery, this hand-painted Ute Mountain bowl stands about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches tall and measures roughly 4 1/2 inches at its widest point, with a 3 inch base. The exterior carries classic Anasazi-inspired geometric banding in black, turquoise blue, and terracotta against a warm cream ground.
The base is artist signed "Wing, Ute Mtn #11" for Inez Wing. Ute Mountain Indian Pottery is made in the Four Corners region near Sleeping Ute Mountain and Mesa Verde National Park, where the tribal pottery enterprise founded in 1973 continues to reinterpret ancient motifs in contemporary work.
Condition is good with no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is some surface dirt on the exterior glaze and a few light scuff marks consistent with age and display. An affordable and very collectible addition to any American or Native American pottery collection.
