Hand-Carved Wooden Pelican on Piling Statue - Coastal Folk Art (Ogunquit, Maine, 1970s)

A striking piece of coastal folk art, this hand-carved wooden pelican perches atop a driftwood-style piling wrapped with rope detail, all mounted on a turned round wood base. The carving is warmly stained and shows the kind of simple, confident lines that only come from a skilled hand.

Purchased in the late 1970s from a gallery in Ogunquit, Maine, it stands a substantial 27" tall (7"W x 6"D) and makes an easy statement on a mantel, entry table, or bookshelf. A natural fit for a shore house, lake cottage, or any room that could use a little salt air.
