Antique Block Puzzle Guide Cards - 15 Originals + 15 Copies (Late 1800s)
A rare survivor from the Victorian nursery: a set of lithographed paper guide cards that once accompanied a children's block (cube) puzzle game. Believed to date from the late 1800s, these sheets show charming illustrated figures of children in colors that remain surprisingly bright after more than a century.
The set includes 15 original paper cards numbered 1-10 and 12-16, along with 15 reproduction copies - almost certainly made by a previous owner so the fragile originals could stay safely tucked away. The originals show honest age wear including edge toning and a few corner tears. The wooden blocks are not included.
Purchased from a London antique shop in the late 1980s and kept in smoke-free, climate-controlled storage for nearly 30 years since. A lovely find for the puzzle collector, ephemera enthusiast, or anyone looking for a striking set of framed wall art.
