1950s Japanese Tilso Boxer Dog & Puppies Ceramic Ashtray
A wonderful piece of mid-century Japanese pottery, this glazed ceramic ashtray was made by Tilso in Japan around the 1950s. A molded boxer dog stands watch over a row of tumbling puppies along the rim, all finished in a glossy drip glaze of turquoise, green, and deep chocolate brown.
It measures roughly 3 1/4 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches across, with cigarette rests worked into the rim and a rich dark glaze on the underside. Condition is excellent with the glossy finish fully intact and no chips or cracks noted.
Whether used as a catchall for keys and coins or simply displayed on a shelf with other mid-century ceramics, this boxer dog ashtray is a charming conversation starter for dog lovers and vintage pottery collectors alike.
