Vintage Mexican Papel Picado Day of the Dead Tissue Cutouts - Lilac & Orange (Set of 2)
A pair of authentic handmade Mexican papel picado panels featuring classic Day of the Dead motifs, purchased in Santa Fe, New Mexico in early 2000 and likely cut in the late 1990s. One panel is a soft lavender-lilac (it photographs more raspberry than it appears in person) and the other is a warm orange. Each measures an unusual 17" H x 27" L.
These are genuine hand-cut tissue paper — not the modern plastic reproductions — with all the fragility and character that implies. They look wonderful framed as a pair, and make a striking piece of folk art for a kitchen, entryway, or Día de los Muertos display.
Stored flat in a folder in a climate-controlled, smoke-free home for over 20 years. The lilac panel is in excellent condition; the orange panel has some tears shown in the photos, and both carry expected fold lines from storage. Shipped protected between foam core and acetate.
