Vintage Hand Carved Indian Shank Buttons - Lot of 10, 1 1/4" Cream & Brown

A lot of 10 vintage hand-carved shank buttons made in India in the late 1970s. Each 1 1/4" button is cream colored with a rich brown cross-hatch and X pattern, said to be carved from a natural nut. Because they are carved by hand, no two are exactly alike — expect gentle variation in tone and pattern across the set.

These come from the deadstock inventory of the Lauber Novelty Button Company, a legendary New York City garment-center button house founded by Morris Sussal, whose family sourced and customized buttons for high-end manufacturers until closing in 2005. Every button in this collection was manufactured before 1985, and quantities are strictly limited.

Never used and ready for a special coat, sweater, or bag — or for repurposing into pendants, bracelets, and earrings. The same design is available in other sizes and lot counts; combined shipping is available. All sales are final.
