Vintage Hand Carved Indian Shank Buttons, 1 1/4" Cream & Brown - Lot of 12

A lot of 12 vintage hand carved shank buttons from India, each measuring 1 1/4" in diameter. Carved from a natural nut, they feature a warm cream ground with a rich brown cross-hatch and X motif, so no two are exactly alike.

These date to the late 1970s and come from the legendary Lauber Novelty Button Company stock — a New York City garment center supplier that customized buttons for high-end manufacturers before closing in 2005. Everything from this collection was manufactured before 1985, with many pieces limited in number and hard to find anywhere else.
