Vintage GE Show 'N Tell Picturesound Program 3-Piece Set - Alphabet, Romeo and Juliet, Hiawatha
A trio of 1960s General Electric Show 'N Tell Picturesound Programs: Alphabet, Romeo and Juliet, and Hiawatha. Each program pairs a 7-inch 33 1/3 RPM vinyl record with a 16mm plastic filmstrip slide key holding 15 images, designed for the GE Show 'N Tell phono-viewer that debuted in 1964.
The phono-viewer advanced the filmstrip with a mechanical gear so the pictures lined up with the narration on its little screen — one of the first true multimedia toys. GE went on to release more than 140 titles covering fairy tales, cartoons, classic literature, science, and space exploration.
Several pieces in this set are essentially unused; the sleeves show only light vintage wear and edge wear as pictured. A charming, playable piece of mid-century childhood nostalgia for collectors and vintage media fans alike.
