Vintage 1970s Japanese Black Lacquer Peacock Jewelry Box with 3 Drawers & Mirror
A beautifully preserved Japanese black lacquer jewelry box from the 1970s (possibly earlier), hand-decorated with an ornate peacock and chrysanthemum design across the lid and all three front drawers. Gold trim and gold drawer knobs add a warm contrast to the deep glossy black finish, and the lift-up top reveals a clear, bright mirror.
The three drawers slide smoothly and are clean and glossy inside, perfect for rings, earrings, and other small treasures. Most likely produced by Otagiri, though the painted front panels make it more elaborate than the typical example. It measures 4 7/8" high x 3 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" long.
Condition is excellent vintage with only miniscule scuffs. The back retains the original "Made in Japan" label along with the remnants of an old price sticker, and there is a clear piece of tape on the bottom that has been there since purchase. Stored away for decades in a smoke-free home.
