Vintage 1960s Danish Modern Hand-Painted Ceramic Lidded Box
A charming handmade ceramic lidded box dating to the 1960s, executed in the Danish modern style associated with Nils Thoroson. The white clay body is hand-painted with a lively mid-century geometric pattern of blue, brown, and cream squares and stripes across the lid, while the interiors of both lid and base are finished in a rich dark brown glaze.
The lid seats precisely on the base, and the underside carries a faint embossed maker's logo. Measuring roughly 3 inches tall by 3 1/2 inches wide, it is the perfect size for rings, stamps, paper clips, or small treasures on a desk, dresser, or shelf.
In good vintage condition with slight roughness where the lid meets the base and light crazing consistent with age. A genuine piece of studio pottery with real mid-century character.
