Signed Maple Burl Wood Bowl - Live Edge Hand-Turned Art Bowl (c. 1980s)
A breathtaking hand-turned maple burl bowl with a dramatic natural live edge, acquired by the original owner in the mid-1980s. The figured burl grain swirls across the surface beneath a glossy hand-rubbed finish, giving the piece the presence of a sculpture as much as a vessel.
The underside is signed by the maker and marked "maple burl." The signature appears to read "Gavors" - note that wood sculptor Nathan Favors did not begin working until 2000, so this is believed to be the work of a different, earlier turner. Either way, the craftsmanship is exceptional and truly one of a kind.
Condition is excellent; the bowl was displayed on a lodge table for many years before being carefully packed away in 2010. A statement piece for a cabin, lodge, or rustic interior. Questions and additional photos welcome before purchase, as all sales are final.
