Eszter Gyory Original Oil Painting - Rare Early Folk Art Snow Scene, Signed & Framed
A charming original oil on canvas by Hungarian-born painter and folk artist Eszter Gyory (b. Budapest, 1944), whose abstract and folk art work has been exhibited and referenced alongside institutions such as the Smithsonian and the American Folk Art Museum. This early snow scene captures children at play beside a snowman, with snow-capped rooftops behind them and a deep blue foreground, all rendered in her bright, joyful folk style.
The painting is signed on the front and again on the reverse of the frame panel. It comes from a private collection where it has been held since the 1980s as one of three rare winter scenes by the artist. The image measures 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and presents beautifully in an ornate carved gilt frame, measuring 13 x 11 inches overall.
Condition is mint to excellent, having been kept in a climate-controlled, smoke-free environment; the gilt frame shows only the light wear expected of an antique-style finish. A highly collectible piece that will be carefully packed for safe arrival, and multiple purchases can be combined to reduce shipping costs.
