A striking hand-blown apothecary jar in deep topaz amber glass, dating to the late 1880s through early 1900s. The rich colored glass was originally chosen to shield light-sensitive contents, and this example still wears its original French paper label reading "HUILE FOIE DE MORUE" (cod liver oil) in remarkably crisp condition.

The jar comes complete with its original ground glass stopper and a separate pour spout, with the rounded glass cap doubling as a dispensing cup. It stands 9 3/4" tall with the stopper seated and measures 3 3/4" across the base.

Condition is excellent for its age with no cracks. The stopper shows minor flea bites and there are small chips around the mouth and cup edge. Stored away for over half a century and never washed, it is offered as found, though we are happy to clean it on request.
