A genuine piece of pharmacy history, this hand-blown glass apothecary jar carries the gold "ALUM. UST." label used by druggists to store burnt alum. The base bears the distinctive moon and sun Thompson trademark, dating the jar to roughly the late 1800s through the early 1900s.

The jar stands 6.5 inches tall and measures about 3 inches across the base, and it comes fitted with a metal strainer top. The original glass stopper is not included. The gilt label remains bright and legible, though it shows honest dirt and wear befitting its age, and the glass is free of chips or cracks.
