Antique Hand-Painted Gold Portrait Ring Dish / Small Plate - Two Young Women

A striking antique porcelain ring dish featuring a hand-painted portrait of two young women set against a rich gold ground with finely etched scrollwork. The shaped, scalloped rim and delicate brushwork give this small tray the presence of a miniature painting.

Measuring roughly 6 1/2 inches long by 4 1/4 inches wide, it is likely German or Austrian in origin, with a blue underglaze mark on the reverse. Initials once painted on the back have worn away, and there is light age dirt on the underside, but the painted surface remains beautifully preserved after more than 70 years in a glass cabinet.
