Antique c.1890 Apothecary Jar with Glass Stopper - "Tinct: Cocci" Gold Gilded Label

A striking survivor from the golden age of the chemist's shop, this handblown apothecary jar dates to roughly 1890. The recessed molded label is fused directly into the glass and reads "TINCT: COCCI" in gold gilt, framed by handsome red and gold banding. The base carries a YCC maker's logo.

Standing approximately 8 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter, the jar retains its original glass stopper. Condition is very good for its age, with some expected discoloration to the gilt along the left middle and a minor chip to the bottom of the stopper. It has been in storage for over fifty years and has not been washed.

An excellent piece for collectors of pharmacy and apothecary glass, or as an atmospheric accent on a bar cart, bookshelf, or bathroom vanity.
