Antique 1890s-1900s Hand Blown Apothecary Bottle - Pv. Cubebae Recessed Gold Label with Stopper
A rare turn-of-the-century hand blown clear glass apothecary bottle, complete with its original ground glass stopper. The recessed front panel carries its original label, believed to read "Pv. Cubebae" (powdered cubeb), still showing crisp gilt gold lettering- a detail that is often worn away entirely on surviving examples.
Measuring 8 1/2" tall by 2 5/8" in diameter, research points to manufacture by F&S of St. Louis, Missouri, circa 1894–1905. The bottle is in very good antique condition; the bottom of the lip is slightly uneven, a characteristic of the hand blowing process rather than damage- no chips or cracks, and nothing sharp to the touch.
This piece was packed away for over 50 years and has not been washed, so it arrives with its untouched attic patina. We're happy to clean it before shipping on request, or you can do the honors yourself. A wonderful display piece for pharmacy, medical, or antique glass collectors.
