1930s American Encaustic Tiling Co. (AET) Matched Set of 8 Tiles + 1 Free — 6" x 6" Vintage
A matched set of eight 6" x 6" glazed tiles from the American Encaustic Tiling Company, circa the 1930s — plus a ninth tile included free. Each one is centered on a bold cobalt blue oval ring surrounded by a green, cream, and ochre floral and leaf motif with decorative corner accents, making them ideal for a table top inset, kitchen or fireplace backsplash, or simply framed as wall art.
All tiles are marked AET on the reverse. As expected with pieces of this age, there is overall crazing to the glaze, some edge nicks, and minor glaze loss shown in the detail photos; the complimentary ninth tile has a corner chip. Together they still present beautifully as a group.
AET was founded by Benedict Fischer and George Lansing and produced in Zanesville, Ohio, growing into the largest tile company in the world by 1890 before closing in 1935 — making surviving sets like this a genuine piece of American industrial and decorative history. From a climate-controlled, smoke-free collection and carefully packed for safe arrival.
